About the artwork

This film features farmers in Japan and Thailand highlighting stories of two individuals engaging with the same occupation in different environments in different countries. Under the overarching theme of rice, which has a long history in both countries, the film also refers to contemporary social phenomena such as war, economic stagnation and the increasing suicide rate.
