About the artwork

We collected and made objects d’art from Matsudai residents’ possessions—ordinary things they used without really thinking about them, oldish things stuffed away in cupboards, tucked way back on kitchen shelves, shut up on storage sheds. We made 24 artworks by placing those possessions in plastic cubes 30 centimeters on a side. The result resembled objects floating in ice. Stripping away their everydayness, we transformed ordinary items into something not everyday at all.
