About the artwork

When the Princess from Legend Met the Snowplow”
What the artist, known for creating narrative works using newspaper and duct tape, encountered during winter in Echigo-Tsumari was the “Nunagawa Hime Legend” and the ongoing task of snow removal by locals. The legend tells of a princess who visited Nunagawa to escape unwanted suitors, and the artist imagined that if she were fleeing in winter, she would have to do so while clearing the snow to make her way. Visitors are also invited to create artworks using newspapers spread throughout the venue like snow.
