About the artwork

Using soil from locations around Japan, the artist created works with the themes “Isemairi,” “Edo Gokaidou,” “Fujikou,” “Tokyo Bay,” “Kumamoto Koudou,” and “Mountain Worship,” expressing the religious perspectives borne and scenery seen by the Japanese when they travel. Along with the above series, the artist shows his new pilgrimage to Echigo-Tsumari’s soil.
