About the artwork

The artist created a work at the former Koumichiyama Primary School back in 2003 with the children of the village. On that occasion, she was attracted to the light-blue swimming pool of the school and she came to the same village to create a work this time again. An iron sculpture was placed in the pool and water from rice fields were poured in. The artist, who had been deeply involved with the village three years earlier, came back again, and this created great joy in the village. Together with her students, she participated in rice planting and harvesting and held workshops. When it came time to say farewell, people all had tears in their eyes.
