About the artwork

Whether they be round or a soft dome shape, whether in the shape of a fan or a hammock, all the various, delicate spider webs are spun from a single thread. On display are webs of spiders found in Echigo-Tsumari, mainly from the more than 2000-item collection of Kazuyo Funabiki, a collector fascinated by this natural art. Gallery talks and spider-watching events focusing from various angles on the world spun by these tiny local artists are also held.
