About the artwork

The artist spent three weeks in the village. Together with the villagers he made books with no writing inside, placed them in an old storehouse and created a library. Visitors and the villagers would write down the memories of the community or their journeys in the books. “What touched my heart the most while visiting Tsumari were the places I have visited and the friendly feelings of people toward others. Sometimes it could take time for our accumulated experiences become filled with friendly feelings,” says the artist. It became precisely a work for meeting the memories and footsteps of people accumulated over time.
