About the artwork

In a place near the peak of Matsudai Joyama, which used to be terraced rice fields, there is now a park where irises and hydrangeas grow. The artist arranged a meeting with the local people of Matsudai to ask them about their homes and lifestyles, about living in the snow country and the artwork was made openly, together with the local residents and children. Local style houses, with various shape modifications, are made in white miniature and placed amongst the hydrangeas. Tiny people, looking like rows of ants, can be seen inside the houses. If visitors look inside the houses through the open portions, they will discover a new scene.
