About the artwork

Taking the surroundings of a vacant house in its entirety as subject, the artist expresses the inception of that point of connection between person and nature, the garden. The garden sown with native plants was taken as one aspect of the work, melting into the surrounding area. Life in the satoyama takes its sustenance from the blessings of nature. This work suggests the form of the original garden born from such a connection, which defines the garden’s true nature and sketches a vision of the garden’s future. The work will be continued after the Triennal, posing the question of “what is a garden,” along with workshops on the planting of moss. The garden keeps growing, and changing.
