About the artwork

In the dusk, red and yellow guiding lights are turned on, and a runaway appears afloat. This space, which resembles an airport at night, brings forth an image of various people and cultures flying and landing in Echigo-Tsumari, or taking off on a journey for freedom and for the future. The artist says, “I wanted to create a moment that lets the audience’s hearts softly float above everyday life.” An event featuring radio-controlled helicopters was also held during the Triennial.
