About the artwork

The residents of the Kawanishi area often suffer from a shortage of water and have over the years had various ideas to tackle this issue, such as the construction of a dam. The artist who has been creating artworks in this area for over 10 years proposed a plan to research and visualise the trajectories of the people’s activities. Using materials that are used in agriculture, she created spherical shapes that are reminiscent of water molecules. Mirror panels attached to the surface reflect the sunlight and also reflect the surrounding landscape. The spheres rotate slowly with the wind and symbolise the relationship between the people of the area and water.
