About the artwork

“We have opened a sugoroku field in the former Primary School, now known as Katakuri House. The exhibition space is a wooden gymnasium that still resembles how the space used to be with things that had belonged including play equipment and musical instruments such as basketball goal, piano, organ, and Othello. We use them as a part of the sugoroku, combined them with something we created such as a Ping-Pong table and other objects, and bring a gigantic sugoroku field where everyone can play. Based upon our experience visiting this place in heavy snowfall, we have completed “Tsumari sugoroku” represented by the villages in Akiyamago that you see when coming south from Tsunan, winding roads, the wooden building, and play equipment and musical instruments.” (Artists’ comment)
