About the artwork

A piece on the theme of female sexuality & life. Walking through the “womb” created using about 10,000 white dresses feels almost like being in a tranquil cathedral. The two spaces in the depths of the passage encourage feelings of both healing and intensity. The artist is also a concert pianist based in the Netherlands, and she carries out this project while performing around the world. She uses the dresses to engage in dialog with visitors and creates the multimedia piano concert combined with feedbacks by those wearing the dresses. [Design: Tomoko Mukaiyama & CUT, Technical Assistance: Kanebako Structural Engineers.]
