About the artwork

Positioned like an enclosure within a park used for various Murono district festivities, 2000 ceramic blocks are carefully arranged around a clearing. This work, created in 2006 alongside the terraced rice fields of the village of Kiwadahara, has brought an invigorating fresh look to the area. The various blocks filter the sun’s rays and cast their shadows across the field in intricate patterns. This clay fortress appearing on high projects a magnificent figure in the calm surface of the water, casting an otherworldly aspect to the mountain park. Mountain springs flowing nearby also offer a healing balm to the visitors of high summer.
