Join artist Imamura Fumi, who draws a variety of flowers, for a workshop to create plant specimens in a slightly different way. Let’s experience together the process of drawing a flower blooming in a satoyama, cutting out the shape once, and then sticking it on a backing paper to get a unique expression of the drawn picture like pressed flowers.
Every season, many flowers bloom in the satoyama. You may or may not have seen these flowers before. We will collect such flowers in a slightly different way. You will look at the flowers you pick, draw pictures of them, cut them out, and make paper flower specimens.
The flowers you see are your own. They are blooming inside your eyes. If you look at the flower carefully and draw it, you may discover something that you could not find just by looking at it. Then, even if the flower is red outside your eyes, it may be blue inside your eyes. How do Satoyama flowers bloom in the garden inside your eyes? Let’s observe actual plants and make specimens of them. (Artist’s comment)
