Summary

A special exhibition and related events which help visitors to fully appreciate and enjoy landscape and living creatures in Satoyama in Matsudai.

Colouring-in Satoyama (gallery space)

“Terraced rice field in autumn” by Shinsaku Nagata, a picturebook artist and “Summer insects” by Yanako Hayashi, an illustrator will be presenting colouring-in papers for visitors which will be displayed on the wall as they are completed.

Lace curtain featuring spring and summer of Satoyama (gallery space)

Presenting the beautifully crafted curtain with a pattern of Satoyama which was produced in co-operation with the best lace maker in Tokamachi.

Broach with insects embroidaries

Beautifully embroided unique insects broaches will be available for purchase. Prices below exclude tax.

Satoyama Stamp Rally (outdoor)

Joyama Stamp and Picking up Vegetables

The tour takes you to visit artworks including “The Rice Field” by Ilya and Emiliya Kabakov and “Tsumari in Bloom” by Yayoi Kusama while follow Kakashi-tai member (local guide) to pick up summer vegetables growing in the filed.

Matsudai NOHBUTAI Field Museum (Collective name for multiple facilities and artworks)

The Matsudai NOHBUTAI is a base facility designed by Dutch architect group MVRDV. Approximately 40 works of art are scattered in a 2-km area of satoyama from Matsudai NOHBUTAI to Matsudai Castle at the top of the mountain, and the entire area is called the "Matsudai NOHBUTAI Field Museum.
