A spring workshop series led by the artists behind the permanent collection at the Museum on Echigo-Tsumari, MonET. By getting hands-on with the artists while exploring the appeal and creative concepts behind the artworks, you might discover a slightly different way to enjoy art. Whether you come with family, friends, or on your own, everyone—adults and children alike—is welcome! Come spend a relaxing, art-filled spring afternoon with us.
A workshop led by Kurita Koichi, creator of the MonET artwork “Soil Library,” where participants can explore the diversity of soil and regional variations. Let’s use the soil we’ve all collected together to sift it and compare its natural colors.

・Soil in a jar (one per person). If you would like totake home soil from multiple locations, please bring your own containers, such as jam jars.
Born in Yamanashi Prefecture in 1962. Since 1990, he has focused on the diversity of soil hues across the Japanese archipelago and began collecting soil samples throughout the country. He has since expanded his activities globally, holding exhibitions in various locations, primarily in France. He first participated in the Echigo-Tsumari Art Triennale in 2006. Since 2012, his work is part of the Permanent Exhibition at the Echigo-Tsumari Satoyama Museum of Contemporary Art.
