We are pleased to announce that ETAT related projects and facilities have launched their respective on-line presence from the official website to Facebook and Instagram accounts. At Echigo-Tsumari Art Field, various people including artists, local people, visitors, supporters, football players and staff members are engaged with inspiring and exciting activities across the region everyday. Stay connected – we will keep you update what is happening in Echigo-Tsumari.
Matsudai Tanada Bank is an initiative prompted by the ETAT, inviting people to become an owner of terraced rice fields which have lost its original owners due to depopulation and ageing and help maintain the local landscape. Owners are welcomed to join rice planting and harvesting and receive rice produced in autumn in return.

The original Australia House was set up in the old minka house with approximately 150-year-old history in 2009 as a platform for exchange between Australia and Japan. However, it was completely collapsed by the Northern Nagano Earthquake in March 2011 – which led us to run the international design competition, head-juried by the prominent architect, Tadao Ando. The design of the present Australia House was selected amongst 154 proposals we received. While the Australia House is primary an artist-in-residence facility for Australian artists, its door opens to the public as accommodation in between residency programs. We will keep you informed of the residence program, accommodation information and events and exchanges with local people in the Urada area through its Facebook.

Toperatoto – a (cheerful) monster living in the Museum of Picture Book Art will keep posting snapshot of wonderful time at the museum everyday on the Instagram. “The museum attracts different creatures, goats and lovely people of Hachi village and small children. Their laughters and chit-chats are my favourite!”
