An opening reception on-line at Hong Kong House

To celebrate the inauguration of new work in Hong Kong House, “A Date with the Art Field – Half-step House @Hong Kong House Sharing Session was held online on Sunday 29 August 2021. Organised by Art Promotion Office, the leading organiser of Hong Kong House, the programme invited Lam Tung-pang, the artist, Kuwahara Haruka, mayor of Tsunan-town, and Kitagawa Fram, ETAT General Director to enjoy the presentation of the culinary culture of Hong Kong, the performance of music, and a talk about a newly created work “Half-step House.”

Haw Par Music performed the music piece “in-between” in MV. Both the music
performance and the artwork “Half-step House” by Lam Tung-pang expressed the
social distance between people during the COVID-19 pandemic.

2. Sharing of local cuisine

In the cookery demonstration, local ladies of Kamigo village made a Hong Kong pastry called “Wife Cake.” As candied white gourd for the filling was not available in Japan, they used sweetened kanpyo instead.

3. Artist sharing on “Half-step House”

The artist, Lam Tung-pang and student interns from the Department of Art History of The University of Hong Kong who helped the creation gave a sharing session about the artwork.

The programme concluded by singing along “Monica” by Leslie Cheung and
モニカ by Kikkawa Koji, one of the best known Japanese song in Hong Kong.
