Enjoy Art and Nature at the Kiyotsu Gorge Tunnel
Kiyotsukyo is considered one of Japan’s three great gorges. Here, you can experience the fusion of the gorge’s beauty—which changes with the seasons, from the fresh greenery of spring to the deep green of summer, the autumn foliage, and the snowy landscapes of winter—with art.

A window that allows you to rediscover the satoyama landscape through the view outside. The curtains, which sway differently depending on the weather, let you feel the sunlight and the gentle breeze.

Through the faint light, the scent of straw, and the sounds echoing through the hallway, you can experience the artwork with your whole body. Feel the memories that have accumulated over a period of time in this school building, which has long been shrouded in snow.
1:00 p.m. Echigo Matsudai Satoyama Shokudo, Matsudai NOHBUTAI
Enjoy a healthy buffet featuring seasonal ingredients
This buffet features a selection of dishes that put a modern twist on local specialties, all made with fresh vegetables grown by local farmers. Enjoy your lunch while taking in the view of The Rice Fields and the surrounding countryside.
After lunch, we toured the Matsudai NOHBUTAI
You can view “Kavakov’s Dream,” a project by Ilya & Emilia Kavakov, one of the leading artist duos of the Echigo-Tsumari Art Field.

Using the tracks of the Hokuhoku Line—which has forged new connections with the local community—this work expresses, through light and sound, the value and energy of connecting one place to another.
3:00 p.m. Museum on Echigo-Tsumari, MonET
Experience a museum dedicated to one-of-a-kind site-specific art
At this art museum, which is representative of the Echigo-Tsumari region, you’ll view artworks that engage with the local landscape and pieces that allow you to experience the passage of time and the changing nature of space. The museum shop offers products from the Echigo-Tsumari Art Field. Here, you can choose to leave the tour and relax at the adjacent Akashi no Yu to soothe the fatigue of your journey.
*If you wish to leave the group, please let us know at the time of booking. It is a 15-minute walk from the museum to Tokamachi Station.
5:00 p.m. Arrival at Echigo-Yuzawa Station / End of Tour

・The itinerary may be changed or canceled due to natural disasters or road conditions.
・Seats on the bus are assigned. If you are traveling with others who booked separately, please note this in the remarks section.
・For some artworks, you’ll need to walk a short distance after getting off the bus. Please wear comfortable shoes that are easy to slip on and off, and bring a hat and something to drink on hot days, as well as rain gear in case of rain.
・The arrival time at the final destination may vary. Please allow plenty of time for your return Shinkansen reservation.
