Born in Lima, Ohio (USA) in 1956, lives and work there. Visual artist known worldwide for large-scale multimedia installations, public projects, and performance collaborations. Responding to the contingencies that occur in the places where she works, recurring motifs in her work, such as fabric, spoken and written text, animals,and stopped and moving people, engage the viewer in an atmosphere that is at once intuitive and literal, individual and collective, biological and inanimate, quiet and spoken, Hamilton’s work keeps fascinate viewers.
