Graduated from the Master’s Program at the Institute of Advanced Media Arts and Sciences
[IAMAS]. An artist and researcher, self-proclaimed as a vendor in the post-internet era. She incorporates platforms like Amazon and YouTube into activities, questioning normative values and narratives. In recent years, the artist has been working on creations based on research into folktales and beliefs, exploring the circulation of narratives and the sharing of memories in contemporary contexts. Notable works include “Yohakusho-ten” (Margin Bookstore), which assigns value to well-used old books and reintroduces them as unique items, and “Virtual Mementos Association,” which uses VR and 3D scanning to commemorate items that cannot be discarded. Participated in exhibitions such as “The Vision of Contemporary Art 2023” (The Ueno Royal Museum, Tokyo), “Viewpoints of Reality in the Multi-layered World” (NTT InterCommunication Centre [ICC], Tokyo, 2022), and solo exhibition “Virtual Mementos Association” at Aomori Contemporary Art Centre (ACAC), 2021). Awarded the Zachary Watson Memorial Education Fellowship (2022) and Kanamori Kao Award of Spiral Independent Creator’s Festival (2019) as well as being selected as finalist of the NEWVIEW AWARD (2021) and the Project to Support Emerging Media Arts Creators by Agency for Cultural Affairs (2018).
