About the artwork

“Sasayama, a home of Jomon. It is a place where humans have lived with nature as they are for thousands of years. You can feel a particular atmosphere that floats around in the surroundings which are comfortable but hard to describe. I would like to create an artwork that can live with such time that has been accumulating in this place. The work will be installed on the site where the main building of the Sasayama Takaogami Shrine, a local guardian deity, once stood. It will be different from the area where the present shrine which is magnificent and neat, with a sense of scale, is built on. While existing in harmony with nature, the sign of forest was felt in the way that the shrine was built around here. I would like to take part in a time that can be felt in nature in this region in the grand flow of time since the Jomon era.” (The artist’s comment)
