About the artwork

The environment detector is a device for visualizing the changes and characteristics of an environment. The artist found the uniqueness of the community in the ponds used to help mitigate the bulk of snow, and the school destroyed by snow, and gave form to this environment. Villagers and the artist created objets of foxes in a workshop, which were placed in the ponds around each house to greet visitors as they stepped into the village. This project became a small device for bringing attention to life in the snow country.
