Born in Mie in 1964. Professor at Nagoya Institute of Technology. Ishimatsu became interested in Furin (wind chime) which detects change in environment since late 1990 and started creation of so he calls “environmental sensor”. His research focuses on design which makes use of characteristic and resources of environment. He has also held number of workshops across Japan. He believes design is a tool for human to make richer relation with surroundings and introduces possibility of design.
