About the artwork

Artist group Rikigosan has chosen the gymnasium of the former Takakura Elementary School as a site for their work, consisting of old agricultural equipment and folk-craft articles collected from across the region. Inside the space, these articles are presented with light and sound so that visitors can listen to the stories and the sounds relating to what they are observing. The scene of Takakura village in deep snow is represented on the outer walls, while on the snow shields are drawings referring to the agricultural equipment and folk-craft items shown inside.
