This project is a ‘school for getting the power of human life back in our hands’, in which various people, including residents, researchers and artists, work together to learn and practice the techniques and beliefs of the ‘common land’. Workshops based on their own themes are also held from time to time by artists who are rooted in Akiyamago for research and production.
The latest artwork by Ma Yansong / MAD Architects, who in 2018 renovated the Kiyotsukyo Gorge Tunnel into an artwork (‘Tunnel of Light’). CHINAHOUSE will also feature a documentary exhibition tracing the 10-year history of the China project since its inception at the Echigo-Tsumari Art Triennale.
The Echigo-Tsumari Exchange Center, the base facility for the Tokamachi area, holds special exhibition across the two facilities in the building, the Museum on Echigo-Tsumari, MonET and Akashinoyu. After a tiring daytime tour of the art festival, visit Akashinoyu. The special exhibition will be illuminated at night.
A Top Ukrainian artist will install an artwork inspired by ‘parks where you can’t play’.
From 12 (Fri) – 21 (Sun) July, the Museum on Echigo-Tsumari, MonET will also hold a Ukraine Week. You will enjoy three Ukrainian art films curated by Nikita Kadan and 《Symposium: ‘The Present State of Ukrainian Art and Culture’’》, as well as Ukrainian culinary culture.
For a limited time only, Nakago Green Park will feature a zoo with amusement park-like art, centred around a merry-go-round-shaped artwork. Enjoy the artworks in an open space where nature and art merge in a relaxed atmosphere.
Our Official Tours run every day during the Triennale.
