"A Field Museum of Art, Food, and Agriculture Beginning with the NOHBUTAI"
Events will be held in accordance with the seasons to allow visitors to directly experience the fun, interesting, and comfortable atmosphere of the satoyama through hands-on experiences at the field museum located behind MOHBUTAI. This is a program unique to Echigo-Tsumari that allows visitors to learn and experience the richness of the land as well as visit artworks scattered around Joyama.
Walking in Joyama: Enjoy iris, hydrangea and rice balls
Explore the field museum for a beautiful area of irises and hydrangeas. Let’s enjoy a walk in the satoyama with a empty stomach. Let’s have a delicious meal.

【7/20】 “Designing Nature” Carrying stones, arranging branches, and offering nuts
This is a workshop to add tree branches and nuts to the installation for animals at the Matsudai NOHBUTAI Field Museum with the artist.

【7/20-9/15】Satoyama BBQ & Nagashi Somen
Join us for a fun and delicious Satoyama experience with a BBQ of Tsumari pork, delicious summer vegetables and autumn vegetables, and Nagashi Somen. Stove and food preparation will be provided, so feel free to come empty-handed.
*We will provide information on how to apply as soon as reservations begin.

Imamura Fumi, “Making specimens in the eye courtyard〜Plant collection of flowers in Satoyama〜”
Join artist Imamura Fumi, who draws a variety of flowers, for a workshop to create plant specimens in a slightly different way. Let’s experience together the process of drawing a flower blooming in a satoyama, cutting out the shape once, and then sticking it on a backing paper to get a unique expression of the drawn picture like pressed flowers.

Yomogi-shobu (mugwort iris) and rice field vacation experience
Participants will experience the traditional Yomogi-shobu (Japanese iris) ceremony held on
Boys’ Festival, and enjoy the style “rice field vacation,” when everyone takes a break after the busy rice-planting season.
