Tanaka Min is an internationally recognized dancer and actor who has performed in numerous productions. At Echigo-Tsumari Art Triennale 2022, Tanaka Min danced in the Nakaya Fujiko’s fog installation at the Museum on Echigo-Tsumari. The appearance of Tanaka Min transformed the atmosphere of the MonET corridor. His body and movements, filled with a serene tension, overwhelmed the audience surrounding the pond, creating a rich and indescribable space of time and space.

Ahead of the “Echigo-Tsumari Art Triennale 2024,” which was announced for next year, the performance by Tanaka Min in the winter program has been scheduled. Winter is the main and the most important season in Echigo-Tsumari. Please come and see the performance in an overwhelming snowy landscape, completely different from the atmosphere of the performance last year.

[Venue] Nakago Green Park (2930-3 Ueno Kou, Tokamachi-shi, Niigata 948-0122)

[Transportation]  (to be adjusted)
*No private cars are allowed to enter the venue. A shuttle bus will be available on the day of the event, details of which will be announced in early December.
*Tours will also be available on the day of the event in conjunction with the Yukimi Gozen (snow viewing dinner) and winter programs (sales will begin in late November).

*No refunds will be made in the event of cancellation due to natural disasters or other circumstances.

*No recording, photographing, or filming will be allowed on the day of the event.

Tanaka Min / PROFILE

In 1974, Tanaka embarked on his own journey of dancing and developed an alternative style of dance called “hyper-dance”. He made an international debut in 1978 at the Louvre museum. In the 1980s, he conducted many avant-garde performances in the former communist territories, resulting in highly regarded international claims. In 1985 he moved to live in a village in a mountain and has continued dance practice based upon agriculture to the present time. Since his first appearance in a film in 2002, he has participated in films both in Japan and abroad. In 2022, Min Tanaka’s documentary film “Dance with No Name” (directed by Isshin Inudo) had a nationwide roadshow.
