About the artwork

A Colourful Space with Mural Where Wild Birds Fly!
This new work by the artist expresses the autonomous emergence and organisation of life as the structural concept of the artwork, portrayed through paintings and drawings. While this region is renowned for its diverse bird population, the artist creates drawings featuring various birds such as Japanese tits, hoopoes, narcissus flycatchers, varied tits, woodpeckers, and tree sparrows, throughout the walls of the Sansho House including the lobby, guest rooms, toilet, and dining hall. By sublimating their imagery uniquely, the artist unfolds a space resonating with the nature of Echigo-Tsumari.
