Make A Difference Institute (MaD), an activity collaborator of Hong Kong House, is hosting the third edition of its food-themed project, “Minna no Tsukemono”, staring in 2024. Centered on the theme of “flavour” that we cherish, preserved foods from around the world will be served with stories about what people hold onto dearly, no matter where they go.

①Tasting: Blessed Bites

We offer a three-course tasting menu featuring drinks, small bites and desserts that blend cherished, time-honored recipes gathered from Hong Kong, Tsunan and beyond — including those from different continents and across the seas. We weave in stories from our experiences in Tsunan and the histories of preserved foods, allowing you to savor each course while reading the tales behind the recipes.

② DIY Pickling Workshop: Passing on Joy in Jars

Let’s enjoy homemade pickles. We’ll feature three varieties that have been popular at our previous tasting events: Dongchimi (Korean fermented radish soup), radish pickled in turmeric, vinegar and sugar (a recipe from HongKong), and Mula Ko Achar (Nepali radish pickle). A single ingredient can be the key to a bite that brings the warmth of home, opens your theart and unites the world. Let’s share the joy of preserving these flavours in jars together.
