In Akiyamago, people have long lived in harmony with nature’s bounty. The animals we harvest from the mountains are also vital to our way of life. In this program, you will experience the process of butchering a wild boar—an animal you rarely encounter in everyday life—and dividing it into its various cuts. As you observe the hunter’s craftsmanship and wisdom, you will come to appreciate the significance behind each step. Then, you will have the opportunity to grill and savor the meat you’ve prepared yourself. This is a moment to quietly reflect on the fundamental act of “receiving life”—a practice that goes beyond simply “eating.”
The connection between food and nature is often obscured in our daily lives. Why not experience its profound depth with all five senses amidst the air of Akiyamago? This experience is sure to shift your perspective on food just a little.
*If a wild boar cannot be captured, the animal used may be substituted.
*The wild boar will be butchered after being skinned and gutted.
