Echigo Matsudai Satoyama Shokudo: Satoyama Buffet

Summary

EAT

At Satoyama Shokudo, we offer a buffet-style meal featuring an abundance of rice harvested from the Rice Fields stretching out before you, as well as seasonal vegetables carefully cultivated by local farmers. Our menu features approximately 20 dishes, primarily consisting of traditional local cuisine from the Echigo-Tsumari region and modern interpretations of flavors cherished in local homes. The menu changes with the seasons, allowing you to savor the unique bounty of the satoyama landscape at every turn of the year.

Highlight #1: A Satoyama Buffet Packed with Local Ingredients

Here you can enjoy traditional regional dishes and home-style cooking from the Echigo-Tsumari area, as well as creative twists on these classics. Savor our seasonal dishes, prepared with an abundance of local ingredients such as rice from the Rice Fields and Tsumari pork, along with fresh vegetables sourced directly from nearby farmers.

Point 2: Food and Art Unique to Echigo-Tsumari

The interior features the artwork *Café Reflet* by Jean-Luc Vilmoot. Photographs of local scenery taken by residents from their windows are displayed seasonally, capturing the everyday life of the rural landscape. From your seat, you can also view *The Rice Fields* by Ilya & Emilia Kabakov. We invite you to enjoy the unique cuisine and art of Echigo-Tsumari alongside the actual scenery of the Rice Fields.
