Born in Kagoshima. Professor at Tokyo Denki University. IWAKI engages with design, education and research on architecture while also creates installation works for outdoor art events in collaboration with students. The main theme of Iwaki’s work consists of space, place and people and Iwaki interprets the characters of the site for an artwork, transforms them into a space by visualisation and elaboration. Iwaki has engaged with people of Aramachi Shinden village in Echigo-Tsumari by participating in the local festival over ten years. Participated art festivals include ETAT (2009, 2012, 2015, 2018, Japan), Nakanojo Biennale (2015, 2017, 2019, Japan), Geumgang Nature Art Biennale (2017, South Korea), Noson Butai Art Project (2019, Japan) and IAG Awards (Japan).
