About the artwork

One of the main highlights of this year’s art triennale. The concept of this exhibition follows the footsteps of Kamo no Chomei, a Japanese writer and essayist who viewed a world of upheaval and disrupt in a small hut; today, using the smallness of this hut, sized at a mere 2.73 sq. m. we think of new possibilities and ideations. The selected designs that have come to life in this exhibition are a collection of cafes, bars, ateliers, homes and more, gathering together and creating a little “village”. This exhibitions aims to be the beginning of the “Hojoki Shiki Village: 100 years initiative” as each of the huts following this exhibition will be transported into different parts of the city to revitalise the city centre.
