E080: Matsunoyama Open Campus

Summary

What does it mean to learn through "art"

In the context of the rapidly ageing society of this region and the question as to whether communities can move forward without schools and a younger generation, Matsunoyama High School pursues a unique initiative in cooperation with local Matsunoyama villagers and have set up the “Matsukou (Matsunoyama High School)” Strategy Association in order to keep their school running. Original curriculums in collaboration with the previous Echigo-Tsumari Art Triennale have been devised and this year, the open campus event welcomes anyone who wishes to experience its unique programme. The day-long event includes a forum with experts and intellectuals to consider the prospect of “learning through art”.
