[2021] Special Exhibition at MonET: ”To Nirvana and Back: The Real Lear in Echigo-Tsumari”

This exhibition celebrates the renewal of MonET which opens on 22 Juyl 2021. The exhibition features original photographs of "The Real Lear in Echigo-Tsumari" a stage performance presented during ETAT2003 and satoyama landscape taken by MORIYAMA Daido.

Workshop

Origami Workshop by Fuse Tomoko

We will hold an origami workshop by Fuse Tomoko, who is exhibiting her new work "UBUSUNA WHITE" at Ubusuna House. Fuse Tomoko will visit us to make "triangular units" shaped like kompeito (sugar candy), which are on display in the Dark Tea Room on the second floor of Ubusuna House.

【2022】Ekaterina Muromtseva Solo Exhibition: Women in black against the war

We are pleased to present a solo exhibition of a Russian artist, Ekaterina Muromtseva, at MonET. The exhibition features series of works called "Women in Black", watercolour paintings of women dressed in black and holding white flowers as if in mourning, which were quiet protests that took place in different cities of Russia and around the world against the war in Ukraine.

Workshop for making "Shappe "(spoon) by Masuda Keisuke

"Shappe" (spoon) making workshop with artist Matsuda Keisuke will be held. In a tent-shaped work in the Mt. Kiyota campground, you will make a shappe (spoon) from a tree branch with the artist, surrounded by nature. Why don't you make your own shappe (spoon)?

"Sing a song of 'Kabakovs' Dreams'" by Makigami Koichi

Makigami Koichi, with his band, Hikashu and other guest musicians, composes a song inspired by the text on the artwork by Ilya and Emilia Kabakov. The artist discovers an imaginary buried songbook called “the Kabakovs’ Dream”.

"Chikei" by Tetsura Yuu

A buto performance embracing the surroundings and presented in the "Memory of the Earth 2022" by Uchida Haruyuki. Everything from the distinctive movement of farming, and wind blowing in the mountain to grass, trees, and rain becomes an element of dance. In contrast to classic ballet which attempts to reach high by stretching up, Ankoku Buto takes lower postures, trying to be closer to the ground. By transforming respect and longing for people living on earth into dance, this performance expresses respect for the local people and their wisdom.

The "Revive Time - Kaki Tree Project" Executive Committee and Yamanoie Co-organized Exhibition "Yamano Kaki-no-ie" - A Story of Circulating Kaki Trees

The "Revive Time - Kaki Tree Project" will hold an exhibition introducing the "Second Generation Kaki Tree Project," a project to plant second-generation persimmon trees, which were regenerated from damaged persimmon trees in Nagasaki in 1945, with children from all over the world to experience the importance of peace. Through the display of the second generation persimmon tree, which is still growing vigorously, and the story surrounding the tree, visitors will be able to experience our prayer for world peace.

Fukasawa Takafumi Special Exhibition "Akiyama Living and Art Rebuilding Museum - Taguchi Hiromi Akiyamago Matagi Hunting Video Screening

Toward 2024, artist Fukasawa Takafumi will prepare the former Oakasawa Elementary School in Akiyamago as a new base for rediscovering and revitalizing, through art, the unique lifestyle, techniques, and beliefs of this land that have been cultivated together with the Akiyama mountains.

”Tanokura D.I.Y. House iju" 3rd Event / Tanada Evening: Fox Road Trip

Lanterns will be lit up at Tanokura Park. Participants will walk to Tanokura Park with lanterns they made during the WS in hand.

The NUNAGAWA Campus, renovated from a closed elementary school, is a school where students play and learn through programs in agriculture, art, physical education, home economics, etc. The following programs will be held in the summer and fall of 2022. Makigami Koichi, one of the best mouth harpists performs at “The Monument of Tolerance” by Ilya and Emilia Kabakov that was completed in December 2021.

“Hokuetsu Seppu” at Echigo-Tsumari Kamigo Clove Theatre Restaurant

A performance restaurant where local villagers serve you home-made meals cooked with seasonal Tsunan-grown ingredients while performing a theatrical piece.
