Please note that “Echigo-Tsumari Art Triennale 2024” will be closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays throughout the entire period of the Triennale, and with the exception of some facilities, almost all works will be closed to the public.

(ii) Closes at 16:00 from October onwards *Except for some facilities.

From October onwards, the artworks in the premises will close uniformly at 16:00, with the exception of the following facilities.

*The “Akeyama Arts Center” will close at 15:00 on Monday, October 14 (national holiday). Please note that viewing after 15:00 will be available only to those who have booked for the Symposium”Akiyamago from a Global Perspective”.

*Ma Yansong / MAD Architect, “Ephemeral Bubble”
Due to the event on Oct 17 only, no admission will be allowed between 10:50 and 11:30. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and ask for your understanding.

Ⅲ ETAT Information Center

If you have any questions about how to enjoy the ETAT, or if you would like to purchase a guidebook or map, please visit the ETAT Information Center. If you have a Passport (advance ticket) or a 2024 Passport with Tanaka Min “Ryōkan in the Snow” (voucher), or if you have purchased a Passport by online or at a convenience store, please exchange it for an actual Passport at the information Center below and enjoy viewing the artworks.


Ⅳ Artworks that cannot be viewed with a ETAT 2024 Passport only

  • “Tunnel of Light” (Kiyotsukyo Gorge Tunnel)
    *¥500 discount for high school students and older, ¥50 discount for elementary and junior high school students upon presentation of ETAT Passport.
    *Advance reservations required for all Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays from July 13 (Sat.) to November 10 (Sun.), Weekdays from August 2, 13 to 16, and October 21 to November 8, 2024.
  • Echigo-Matsunoyama Museum of Natural Science “Kyororo”
    *Show your passport and get a ¥300 discount for high school students and older.
  • JIKU #13 HOKUHOKU-LINE (Hokuetsu Kyuko Line)
    *Reservations required.
    *Show your Passport and get a ¥200 yen discount for admission to the artwork + additional train fare.

Ⅴ Artworks that are not open to the public from July 13 (as of July 20, 2024)

The following artworks, originally scheduled to be released on July 13, have been postponed. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. We will inform you of the release date as soon as it is decided.

Ⅵ Notes on viewing artworks

  • Amemiya Yosuke “VR Takizawa Tourism”
    【Open】only on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays during the ETAT 2024.
    【Time】10:00-16:00 ※Reception will be closed at 15:40. (Please note that if there are people waiting to see the artwork at 15:40, we may close the reception even at 15:40.)
    This is a VR video artwork (26 minutes) that can be viewed with a head-mounted display and headphones. There are two ways to view the artwork. Please come to the site and choose your favorite method.
    (1) Viewing aboard a double-cab truck (3 seats)
    You will be seated in the double-cab truck in which the film is set, and 3 people will be guided at a time. Please refrain from leaving during the viewing (26 minutes).
    (2) Viewing in the assembly hall (5 seats)
    You can wear a head-mounted display and headphones to view the films in the assembly hall. You may leave during the viewing.
  • Ohmaki Shinji “Where the spiritual shadow descends”
    【Open】on Saturdays and Sundays from July 13 to September 1.
  • Hara Rintaro + Hara Yu “Amida Crossing”
    【Experience】3rd grade elementary school student or younger must be accompanied by a parent or guardian when crossing over the bridge of the artwork.
  • Masuda Keisuke+ MasudaRyoko “Lion cub drop”
    【Access】There is no access from the parking lot of Matsudai Family Ski Resort. Please come through Matsudai “NOHBUTAI” Field Museum instead of Route 253.
  • Azuma Koichiro “Manpowered Snowplow”
    【How to enjoy】When the artwork is open to the public normally, you may view the fixed vehicle and ride in the driver’s seat. In the driver’s seat, you can move the shooter (snow thrower) and auger (snow collector) by pedaling. (An event to actually drive the work is scheduled to be held during the exhibition period.)
  • Artworks in Matsudai Castle
    【Fee】There is no individual admission fee. Please purchase a Matsudai “NOHBUTAI” Feed Museum ticket when viewing the artworks.
